At Optilase, our aim is to support you through the steps you take on your laser eye surgery journey. That’s why we have tailor-made our service with all clinical decisions being made with you in mind.

Our flexible opening hours, including weekends and late evenings, allow us to fit your assessment, pre-operative consultation, and surgery into your busy schedule.

Unlike other clinics, you will never have to deal with pushy salespeople and we believe in providing you with open and honest advice that allows you to make an informed decision.

Laser eye surgery with Optilase is quick and relatively pain-free. We will monitor your progress after your laser eye surgery and you should expect to attend our post-operative clinic on a regular basis.

Below is a breakdown on what to expect during your unique tailor-made Optilase journey.

laser-eye-surgery-journey_01When you first come to visit us in Optilase, you will meet with your Laser Optometrist who will carry out a full eye health exam and assess whether you are a suitable candidate for laser eye surgery.

Your Laser Optometrist will also answer any questions you may have regarding laser eye surgery, explain the different options available to you and also talk you through the procedure itself.

The assessment will take roughly one hour and can be arranged for a time suitable to you. At the end of the visit, your Pre-Operative consultation and Surgery with your Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon can be booked in at your convenience.

Afterwards, you will meet with one of our Clinic Administration team who will take you through the necessary paperwork and payment.

  • The surgery itself takes only minutes
  • The entire visit in Optilase should last about 2 hours
  • Bring a friend or family member to drive you back home

Your Surgery will normally be carried out within one week of your Pre-Operative Consultation. On the day, you should bring a friend or family member to accompany you. When you arrive at the clinic you will be greeted by one of our clinic coordinators who will ensure that you are cared for throughout your visit. You will then meet the team, including your Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Nurses and Laser Technician, who will be with you for the duration of your surgery.

The procedure itself will only take a few minutes. Your team will be there to help and support you all the way through. After your operation you will move to our recovery suite where your Surgeon will carry out a brief Post-Operative examination on your vision. Once ready, your nurse will take you through and explain the full aftercare routine you need to follow.

After this you will receive a full post-operative information pack, including our 24 hour emergency optometrist helpline number.

Your entire visit should take no more than two hours. It is important that you allow yourself the rest of the day for recovery time.
