We use the VISX S4 for laser eye surgery. The VISX is recognised for bringing innovation and breakthrough technology to laser vision correction. VISX is the only laser approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) capable of providing Wavefront-guided treatment for farsighted or mixed astigmatism prescriptions and also has the only FDA-approval for automated Iris Registration. The VISX incorporates many features that, in the hands of our expert Surgeons, ensure the best possible results from your surgery with Optilase.

The system allows your Surgeon to vary the width of the laser, from 0.65 mm (about the size of the average pen tip) up to 6.5mm (roughly the thickness of three €2 coins together). This flexibility not only allows your surgeon to complete your treatment more safely and quickly than with other systems, but also provides the ability to perform minute sculpting and polishing with less fuss.

The laser automatically tracks you eye, using iris recognition, ensuring that the laser follows even the slightest eye movements throughout your surgery. This is important to guarantee the best possible outcome from your surgery.

The VISX also helps reduce recovery times after surgery. The Excimer Laser System produces an extremely smooth treatment surface on the cornea at the front of your eye. Smoother treatments promote faster healing and result in better visual outcomes.

For patients who choose to avail of the additional benefits of Advanced WaveFront treatments, the VISX incorporates the WaveScan technology which produces a WavePrint Map, much like a fingerprint, unique to your eye. This detailed map contains a detailed analysis of your vision, and no two maps are alike. The WaveScan's digital information is transferred to the VISX STAR S4 Excimer Laser, allowing your Surgeon to reshape the cornea with a new level of precision and accuracy.
