Mr Alex George is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon who specializes in refractive eye surgery and performed more than 40,000 laser vision correction procedures. He has also performed more than 11,000 intraocular surgeries – including 3,5000 refractive lens exchange using state-of-the-art equipment.
He has gained vast experience in a wide range of specialities and an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the British Society of Refractive Surgeons. Twice every year he attends the International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) conference and is annually appraised by this board - the panel of which consists of several of the world’s most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy.
Mr Alex George began his distinguished career when he obtained his medical degree in 1975 from Aligarh University in India and was certified in Ophthalmology in 1984 from Bombay University in India after obtaining his Masters and Diploma qualifications. In 1985, he obtained further qualifications from the National Board of Examinations in Ophthalmology from New Delhi, India and went on to acquire the FRCS(Ed) and the FRCOphth qualifications in 1989 and 1990 respectively. He completed his refractive surgery training in1994/1995 as a Fellow at the Centre for Sight at Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA and was also involved in the investigational, Phase 3 FDA trials of PTK and PRK.
In addition to his vast experience carrying out refractive surgery and laser vision correction procedures, he is also highly experienced in intraocular surgery and corneal procedures to treat refractive errors such as limbal relaxing incisions, compression suturing, arcuate keratotomy, clear lens and cataract extraction surgery and Phakic IOL surgery.
