Here's why working from home might be giving you eye strain - and what you can do about it
If you’re a glasses or contacts wearer the past few months working from home online, or just being at home a little more may have meant a lot more screen time than usual, and this may have been difficult on your eyes. If this is the case for you then undoubtedly you will have experienced eye fatigue or eye strain over this time. One of the reasons for this is that when we’re at home, in our own comfortable space we’re less likely to move around - whereas in workplaces it’s more likely that we’ll be engaged in meetings, and generally more mobile.

Take short breaks

Try the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
Consider your lighting
As we approach Winter, lighting can become a really important factor when on your screen for large amounts of time. When reading printed materials, try to position the light behind you and direct the light onto your page or task. If you're reading at a desk, use a shaded light positioned in front of you. The shade will keep light from shining directly into your eyes.
Improve the air quality of your space
Working inside all day long with heating on can have a drying impact on your eyes. Some changes that may help prevent dry eyes include using a humidifier, adjusting the thermostat to reduce blowing air and avoiding smoke. Moving your chair to a different area, away from radiators, cookers or any kind of unnatural heat will also help to reduce the amount of dry moving air on your eyes and face.
