Laser Eye Surgery - Before, During and After - What you need to know

18 Feb 2020

If you’ve been wearing glasses or contact lenses for most of your life, the chances are that you’ve toyed with the idea of Laser Eye Surgery at some point. The results are phenomenal - but what about the journey, the process - the before, during and after?

Optilase are Ireland’s No,1 Eye Surgery providers, and have performed thousands of Laser Eye Surgeries since they first opened their doors in 2002. As Ireland’s most popular choice for the life changing surgery, they know everything there is to know about the before, during and after so let’s take a look at the journey they will bring you on.

Before
You’ve booked your assessment with Optilase - what happens next? The initial assessment is all about finding out if you are a suitable candidate for Laser Eye Surgery. During this free assessment one of Optilase’s Optometrists will carry out a series of eye examinations to find out your suitability, and then based on the results they will then explain in detail the processes involved and answer any questions you may have. The whole assessment takes around one hour to complete. After this a pre-operative consultation with your surgeon will be organised.

At this consultation you will meet your Surgeon who will carry out a further eye exam and give the final approval required for surgery to go ahead.

During
Understandably, you might feel nervous on the day of your laser eye procedure but, at Optilase, you can rest assured you’re in the safe and capable care of our team, consisting of your consultant ophthalmic Surgeon, nurses, laser technicians and other professional support staff members. Optilase has been carrying out Laser Eye Surgery on our customers since 2003, and we’re a highly recommended and experienced team, so there is no need to worry.

On the day of your surgery it’s a good idea to bring a close friend or family member with you for some support. Your laser eye treatment takes, on average, seven minutes per eye. It’s a very short procedure but one with a lasting, life-changing outcome.

After
Optilase offers a free Lifetime Care Guarantee as part of their ongoing commitment to patients and will provide you with a thorough aftercare programme for the 12 months following your laser eye surgery procedure. Depending on individual case, this will contain an average of four post-operative appointments to attend throughout the year.

After the first year of check-ups, you’ll be discharged from our aftercare programme, but don’t be a stranger – Optilase’s doors are always open if you’re ever unsure of anything or have any questions regarding the treatment.
