Why do I see better when I squint?

20 Jan 2014
Squinting is an instinctive reaction by your eyes to bright light, by trying to reduce the amount of light suddenly entering the eye.   However, if you find yourself squinting in order to see objects clearly, then it may be a sign of a refractive error, or perhaps a symptom of presbyopia if you are […]

What is Myopia or Short-Sightedness?

22 Jun 2012
Myopia (short-sightedness) is caused when the eye doesn’t bend or refract light properly to a single focus. This means it’s very difficult to see images clearly, and although objects held close to you look clear, distant objects are blurred.   You may notice symptoms like eye strain; find yourself squinting to see things, have trouble […]

What is Presbyopia?

22 Jun 2012
Presbyopia literally means ‘old eye’. It’s a natural part of the aging process where the crystalline lens of your eye begins to stiffen up and lose its flexibility, making it difficult for you to focus on close objects.   You may notice that you experience difficulty reading, focusing on instructions written on the back of […]

What is Hyperopia or Long-Sightedness?

22 Jun 2012
Hyperopia (long-sightedness) happens when the eye is shorter than normal, so the light rays entering the eye end up focused behind the retina.   This causes the image on the retina to be blurred, so although distant objects may appear fairly clear, objects that are close to you appear fuzzy and indistinct.   Most children […]

I recently had the PRK procedure a month ago. It's been life changing to be able to see clearly after wearing glasses for 20 years. My vision was not 20/20 after surgery since I had PRK and I was first scared that it won't get better. But give it time and patience and it will improve. Optilase was superb on aftercare and the team during the surgery really took care of me. I'm so happy ❤️ Thank you Optilase!

I found the whole process very professional and very well organised. They also assisted in the documentation process very easy. They were also very good to help in arranging the reference process too. If I was make one small comment is they need to add a prescription painkiller to the process. Although the after experience was exactly what was expected it could been managed better with a stronger pain relief. Other than that I have recommended 3 people to get the procedure from Optilase, all of which had a great experience. I would highly recommend Optilase for vision correction and the long term benefits have changed my life.
